If you are a Human Resource (HR) Manager in South Africa then brace yourselves … it looks like you are in for a very busy few months!
According to a recent report published on South African business news site BusinessTech – citing the ManpowerGroup SA – organisations anticipate hiring growth across nine of the tracked 11 sectors in the quarter from April to June 2022 compared to the first quarter of the year.
“The sector expected to see the highest hiring growth is primary production, which includes: agriculture, forestry and fishing; mining and quarrying; electricity, gas and air conditioning supply; water supply; sewerage, waste management and remediation activities. This sector is expected to grow by 47% and is followed by banking, finance, insurance, and real estate which expects to see an increase of 40% in hiring sentiment. “
With chronic unemployment weighing heavily on the South African economy over the last decade and exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic, this news will be well received by the country as a whole but it does mean that Human Resource (HR) managers in South Africa will need to gear up for this surge in activity.
