Being an entrepreneur in South Africa is an extreme sport!
Apart from the generally challenging state of the South African economy, we are forced to deal with a variety of different factors including:
- Load-shedding
- Unreliable public transport infrastructure
- Infrastructure challenges
Throw in a bit of red-tape and it’s a surprise that many people decide to actually start and run businesses…
…. but there are a handful of us who are brave [foolish?!] enough to take on the challenge of entrepreneurship and focus on building a life for ourselves.
But running a business is not for the faint of heart.
Don’t believe us? Ask the team from HeavyChef who invest many hours educating and supporting entrepreneurs in South Africa.
That’s why we are always excited to see what content they are putting out on their YouTube channel to see if there are any tips and tricks we can share with our network.
This week they put out a great video talking about why entrepreneurs should prioritise exercise as part of their weekly routines.
Dr Lynelle Hoeks has always had a love for sport and the outdoors. She works at Cape Sports Medicine in Newlands, is a surgical assistant in General, Orthopaedic and Plastic surgery, and runs her own practice – HouseDoc – doing GP house calls in the Southern Suburbs of Cape Town. She is currently completing her specialisation as a Sports Physician through the University of Cape Town. In an exciting recipe for the Heavy Chef learning platform, Lynelle outlines the steps you can take to improve your exercise regime and, ultimately, your output as an entrepreneur.

We completely agree with this assessment and encourage all entrepreneurs in our network to ensure they focus on both their personal health and wellness but also those on their teams.
In smaller more entrepreneurial businesses, the loss of key team members is felt harder than a large corporate.
If your small business is looking for a corporate wellness solution or tools to keep their teams fit and healthy, then please do not hesitate to contact us.
Exercise is important for entrepreneurs and their teams and we look forward to working with you on your entrepreneurial journey!
